18 press winners from Epica Awards 2012: wit and minimalism

The Epica d’Or Press at the Epica Awards 2012. was awarded to a 2-ad campaign promoting McDonalds Large Coffee. The ad does get the ‘double-take’ reaction from readers wondering what the visual is all about.

But I thought there were some better executions for the same product elsewhere.

While the Epica d’Or Press was featured in several ad blogs, some of the other winners in the press category haven’t been so visible. Here are a few which caught my eye:

1. Schoeffel: Getaway Clothing

Loved the protein drink and the ‘extra leg room’ ads. Brought out the irony very well.

2. CNBC-E Turkey: News & Series

Got to wonder if business news and sitcoms go well as a product idea, but hey the ads convey the message.

3. dpa-Picture Alliance: All you need to tell the story

 The format of many images coming together to tell a story has been done before in this product category. But these executions are fresh and do bring a smile. Loved the ‘genesis’ and Italian drama’ ads.
