Airtel & iPhone in India: the ‘sell’ begins

I happened to see an article in ET about the iPhone launch in India. It promoted a toll-free Airtel number to which one had to SMS ‘iPhone’ to get more details. I did and here’s what I got promptly:

It was a short description of what the iPhone can do and asked for your email ID for more information.

Looks like Airtel expects some buzz around the launch of the iPhone and have got their nose ahead in terms of creating pre-launch hype. The fortunes of iPod changed when they made it PC-compatible. Similarly, the iPhone is likely to appeal to a wider audience with their Microsoft Exchange support. Now, the wait seems long…
